A Lot Going On

We have the cab back on the chassis to get the body mount placements figured out. We will work on the front two first and work our way back. We took out the stock front cross brace where the original cab mounts were and have fabricated a new one that we think will be a little stronger. This will also give us more room for the radiator.

Here is the C channel that we added to the front of the frame rails. It is the width of the frame with 3" legs. The body mount will be placed on top. We are using a universal mount from Energy Suspension.

Not the best picture but you can see how the setup looks. Chris and I decided that we needed to make the pieces look a little less boxy looking.

The start of the reshaping of the front mount cross member.

All back together and ready for the final fit.

Ready to weld to the frame.

It's hard to see with the clamps but these are the parts we made for the cab part of the mount. The clamps are to keep them square while Chris welds them to the body of the cab. These parts go through a channel and welded to both sides of the cab.

All welded in and we took out the stock cross member that was behind the new one. Yeah no more chain to hold the front of the cab up.

Here is a better shot of how the cab part of the mount work out. The front is done and time to move to the back.

Here is a shot that shows the cut out that was made to channel the cab about 1.5". Next week is working on getting rid of the wood blocks and making the rear body mounts. Also Chris will be working his talent on making the cut out beautiful.
